Franciscan Clarist Congregation is called to be a Good News to the world and to spread the Kingdom of God. Great importance was given to the area of Evangelization and Faith Formation from the very beginning of the Congregation. FCC Sisters from all the Provinces are prepared for Evangelization through Kerygma course. Special training programmes have been given to a large number of sisters through Didache course.
About 85Kerygma and Didache courses have been organized and conducted for our sisters. Our sisters have now developed a great interest and thirst to study the Word of God at any cost and share the Word with others. A Paraclete School of Evangelization was established to promote the study and to spread the Word of God to the people in the parishes and among school children, hospitals and other institutions. Other methods of evangelization that are praiseworthy are the Jesus Youth &ChristeenprogrammesAlphonsa Garden for teenagers and younger children in schools, Word of God retreats and faith training programme for children. Various methods are used by our sisters to spread the Word of God to our Christian and non- Christian brothers and sisters in hospitals and other social work and care of the poor areas.
Our sisters are actively engaged in the Evangelization programmes held at the Parish level and Diocesan level. Basic Christian communities are formed in the parishes to deepen the life of faith and sharing among the Christian families. Considering the need of the time, Counselling Centres are started in several places. Besides, families in the respective parishes are regularly visited and given counselling and guidance. Even through the rickshaw pullers, the message of Gods love is being spread
FCC sisters are doing commendable service in the ministry of Evangelization through Prison Ministry. In every Province, there are sisters who visit the prisons regularly and arrange Holy Mass and prayer sessions for them. The prisoners also benefit through the Counselling given by the sisters. There are various rehabilitation centres for the children of the prisoners conducted by our sisters. Free boarding and free education is given to these children. Our sisters keep good relationship with the prison authorities and with the family members of the prisoners.
In order to motivate and enlighten the sisters engaged in the apostolate of Evangelization refresher courses are conducted in Provinces and at the Generalate. FCC has got Retreat Centers, FCC Ashrams, Mobile Evangelization, City Evangelization, Basic Christian Communities, Direct proclamation of the Word of God, Eucharistic adoration centers, CouncillingCentres, Counselling in schools, hospitals and families, Home Mission, Mass media for the Service of the Kingdom of God.
Madonna Family Renewal Retreat is a new evangelization programme and a gift for FCC from God our loving Father to renew the families, to inculcate the culture of love and life and thus to renew the Church by preaching the Word of God through audio visual aids. It was inaugurated on 15th May 2011 at St. Marys Church, Vedagiri in the Diocese of Palai by the then Pastoral Co ordinator and the Present Auxiliary Bishop of Palai, Mar JacobMuricken. The Retreat was initiated by Sr. Lisa Martin FCC, the Asst.Provincial Superior of FCC Alphonsa Province, Pala with the blessings of the Superior General, Mother Sinclare FCC and the Provincial Superior, Sr. Paulinose Maria FCC. The other team members are Sr. Jose Bennet, Sr. Jossy Maria, and Sr. Archana (peaching); Sr. Dona Jose, Sr. Jobia ( Key Board); Sr. RoselinKoovapara, Sr. MerrinaKakkattil, Sr. Roseena, Sr.Tessin Maria (Singers). The Retreat was conducted in 24 parishes of the Diocese of Palai and almost 2500 persons got benefit out of it. When the Retreat was started it was given only for women and later at the request of the parish priests, now it is given to both men and women.
Blessed Virgin Mother Mary is taken as the Patron and Model, who received the Word of God in her heart and womb. She is the model to the family members so that they may be renewed by following her example in receiving the Word of God and practicing it. In the Retreat we make an analysis of the life of BVM Mary in the light of the Word of God. Many are the threats to the Family life. Bl. John Paul II had high lightened it, in the first chapter of his Apostolic letter FamiliarisConsortio. Divorce, Infidelity, adultery, sexual abuses, abortion, contraceptive culture, alcoholic and drug addictions, idolatry, black mass, homosexuality etc are some of the evils that spoil people and family. Family, which should be a place of confidence, consolation and peace, is now a place of insecurity and distrust. Respect for parents and elders are missed. Children are not cared properly. In the Madonna Retreat people are made concientized about these facts and a great desire for true Christian family life is created, through classes, audio-visual programmes and counselling. It is found to be very useful as it is clear from the feedbacks received from people and parish priests.
